The Propaganda Machine in High Gear: Did the Russians Really Just Invade Ukraine?

Russian Tanks
Last week, the spokesman for the Ukrainian military had a dire announcement to make. Russia had just invaded Eastern Ukraine with dozens of tanks, howitzers, and trucks carrying ammunition and soldiers. It appears that Russia is done negotiating, and is prepared to take Eastern Ukraine by force, global opinion be damned.

Or are they?

This wouldn't be the first time that Ukraine and the Western media have cried wolf. They seem to claim the Russians are invading whenever negotiations aren't going their way. While it wouldn't be surprising if it turned out that Russia is supplying and training the rebels in Donetsk, it would be highly unlikely for them to engage in a full scale invasion at this time.

More importantly, there isn't any solid evidence to support these claims. According to retired German General Harald Kujat, the Ukrainian government is lying through its teeth. He had this to say:
It's lot of speculation. Proof of Russia's involvement with regular force has not come to my attention so far.
For example, the announcement of the Ukrainian President that 23 Russian armed vehicles have been destroyed on Ukrainian soil. There are no photos of surviving Russian soldiers nor of killed Russian soldiers.
We have been shown five satellite pictures as a proof that Russian Forces are in the Ukraine. Three of them were marked officially as "on Russian territory". Two of them are marked as "on Ukraine territory". The Russian pictures are marked with the exact location, while the Ukrainian ones have no mention of location and coordinates.
We have to be very careful about what the Ukraine and the West says.
So what makes this any different from all the other times that Ukraine has cried wolf? Well now, NATO is claiming that they've seen Russian columns pouring into Ukraine
"Across the last two days we have seen the same thing that OSCE is reporting. We have seen columns of Russian equipment, primarily Russian tanks, Russian artillery, Russian air defense systems, and Russian combat troops entering into Ukraine," he added.
He noted that NATO did "not have a good picture at this time of how many. We agree that there are multiple columns that we have seen."
So they don't have a “clear picture” and no physical evidence has surfaced to back up NATO's claims. How convenient. Somehow I doubt that you can sneak an army into one of the most contested regions on the planet without any news outlets capturing a picture of something incriminating. This of course, hasn't stopped the United States from jumping on the bandwagon.

Meanwhile, Russian ships are currently heading towards Australia, but are staying within international waters, and Russia has announced that they will now patrol the Gulf of Mexico with long range bombers. While this is somewhat alarming, everyone should know that this is Russia flexing its muscle, and showing what it's capable of. But if you listened to the media, they'd have you believe that we're about to about to see Russian paratroopers landing on our front door step any day now.

And of course, there is no outcry for the numerous U.S. military bases surrounding Russia, or when Naval ships park off the coast of China, or when drones are caught flying over Iran. American and NATO forces think they can do whatever they want, wherever they want, because they claim to be the sole advocates for peace and freedom around the world. If a country like Russia attempts to do the same, the Western news outlets claim that Russia is trying to start World War 3.

In reality, they are not advocates for peace and freedom. They are liars and imperialists who will stop at nothing to demonize and bully the Russians. If World War 3 is going to be started by anyone, then it will come from the West.

And if the Russians really are invading, please provide some actual proof. The gall it takes to claim that a non-existent army is invading a sovereign nation, in an age where almost every human being has a camera and a cell phone, boggles my mind. We're not as dumb as you think, NATO.
